The Mighty Oaks Day Nursery
A DAY nursery has been served with a notice to improve after a complaint was made to government inspection body Ofsted.
The Mighty Oaks Day Nursery at Bournemouth Sports Club has been ordered to make improvements within a determined timescale.

So-called compliance action has been taken after a complaint was submitted on August 28.
In a timetable set out by Ofsted, it said action was required by September 20 to “improve staff deployment so that children receive the support they need to have their needs met at all times. This includes busy times during the day so that they are not left unsupervised.”
It then goes on to say what needs to be done by October 31. It says the nursery must “improve the processes for staff supervision to ensure that every member of staff receives the coaching, mentoring and support they need to work effectively as a team and offer quality learning and development experiences for children that continually improve.”
It also says the nursery must “improve the support for the manager to ensure they receive coaching, mentoring and input they need to work effectively, to foster a culture of mutual support, teamwork and continuous improvement.”
Complaints were also made to Ofsted about the nursery in October last year.
It was ordered to improve risk assessment procedures, ensure fire exits are free of obstruction, ensure there are facilities for hygienic preparation for food for children and ensure staff receive appropriate training and supervision.
A report afterwards said Ofsted was satisfied with the action taken by the provider.
A full Ofsted inspection carried out in February this year graded the nursery as Requires Improvement.
At the time it had 29 pupils on roll up to the age of four. | Mighty Oaks Day Nursery
Inspectors said: “Managers and staff do not make effective use of risk assessments to help them to ensure that children are as safe as possible on outings.”
It also criticised procedures for monitoring children’s progress and said staff do not provide all parents with detailed information about progress.
Suzi Daver from Mighty Oaks Day Nursery said: “Ofsted recently visited our setting and although they had absolutely no concerns about the wellbeing of the children, they did note that we could improve our deployment of staff during busy times. They also recommended that we can implement changes (to deployment etc) quicker if we increased the frequency of supervisions we hold for both our employees and management.
“All of us at Mighty Oaks have taken on board the actions contained in the Compliance Report and have already put measures in place to address these.”
